MIKE DEAN became the first referee to give out 100 red cards in the Premier League on Tuesday night as Wolves beat Manchester United.
The Wirral match official, 50, handed Ashley Young two yellow cards in a five-minute period as he was sent for an early bath.
The controversial ref has overseen 472 top-flight matches and has been involved in a hatful of bonkers incidents down the years.
From celebrating a Tottenham goal to being devastated at Swansea not making the most of him allowing them to play advantage, Dean has always been a talking point.
But very little gets people talking quite like his wacky sendings-off – here are a few of the most memorable…
STERLING WORK
AT the start of the 2017-18 season – where Manchester City hit the 100-point barrier – Raheem Sterling was on the receiving end of some Dean magic.
After scoring a late, late winner at the Vitality Stadium, the already-booked Sterling rushed off to celebrate with fans.
The next thing you know, Dean has the red card out and the England star is off down the tunnel as ecstasy turned to agony.
The crowd were left stunned, with Pep Guardiola left fuming at the soft decision.
PHIL-IN’ CARD HAPPY
IN January 2017, Phil Jones smashed into Sofiane Feghouli in a heated clash between Manchester United and West Ham.
Jones appeared to come off worse in the clash, despite him lunging in violently.
As the England man rolled around the ground, Dean strolled over and bizarrely gave Feghouli a red card.
It was rescinded quicker than you can say “off you pop”, as Dean infamously uttered to Lewis Dunk on sending him off earlier this season.
THAT’LL COST YA
WHO could forget Diego Costa? The ex-Chelsea star was always quick to turn a football match into a UFC bout in a desperate bid to wind up his opponents.
In 2015, he slammed into Arsenal’s Gabriel Paulista and sent him crashing to the floor.
Naturally, Gabriel was less than happy and retaliated – without ever making contact – with Dean sending him off for his trouble.
Costa, meanwhile, got away scot-free – until after the game that is, when Gabriel had his ban overturned and the Chelsea man was then charged with violent conduct.
HARD KNOCK LIFE
DON’T think being injured will spare you from the wrath of Dean…
In 2014, Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor was sent off for a clash with West Ham’s Mo Diame.
McGregor was forced off the pitch – and ruled out for the season – with severe kidney damage.
But Dean still flashed the red card, before it was swiftly overturned by the FA.

BROWN IN THEN DUMPS
ONLY his second-ever red card, Dean sent off Charlton’s Steve Brown in 2001 for handling the ball.
Brown attempted to get in the way of a Trevor Benjamin flick against Leicester, when it struck his hand.
The Addicks star badly hurt is leg on landing and was forced to be taken off on a stretcher.
As Brown lay on the stretcher in agony, Dean sauntered over and stuck a red card in his face.
