"Many Photos" - Bridezilla sparks debate by refusing to cater for vegans and says if they need ‘special food’ they can ‘bring their own dinner’

A BRIDE-TO-BE has sparked debate online after refusing to cater for her vegan guests.

The woman took to a wedding forum to ask for advice, after explaining she wouldn’t be “making special food accommodations” and suggesting the vegan couple bring their own.

“I need advice,” the bride wrote.

“We sent out our RSVPs. No where on the RSVP does it ask what guests want to eat at the reception. Nowhere.

“One of my fiance’s friends wrote all over the RSVP that she and her husband are vegan and included what they don’t eat.

“Also, if we had any questions to call. That irked me from the start.”

“A few days later I made a FB post about needing RSVPs to be returned and his friend commented: ‘You got ours right? Two vegan plates.’

“I ignored the comment. Now tonight my fiance makes a post and on it she comments again about needing two vegan plates.

“We are not making special food accommodations. If our parents needed something, sure. Them? No.”

The bride then went on to explain that they were having catered tacos and if the vegan guests didn’t want to bring their own food they could order from the restaurant at their own cost.

“We’re having tacos, catered. Beef, Chicken,” she said.

“So what are they going to eat? The lettuce and beans?

“I feel like my fiance should speak to her in advance to let her know what we are having for dinner; they can bring their own food or order from the restaurant (but it’s BBQ lol) at their own cost.”

The post was shared on a Facebook wedding shaming group and has since divided social media users.

While hundreds were outraged at the bride refusing to meet dietary requirements, others defended her decision, with some branding it “ridiculous” to accommodate for just two guests.

A number of users reminded the bride that some guests could have serious, life-threatening allergies.

“If I was inviting someone to my wedding, I would know they’re vegan,” wrote one.

“My brother can’t eat tree nuts of peanuts, he will die.

“I know that’s extreme, but I would think they would be able to at least have some options available for people with dietary needs.”

Others couldn’t understand why the bride couldn’t accommodate a vegan option.

“You have so much time to plan your wedding and they are letting you know on the RSVP months in advance,” explained one user.

“It’d be no extra cost to you, literally just your time.

“There’s no reason why she couldn’t communicate with her caterer ahead of time and make sure all her guests are fed.

“Sounds like a selfish a** woman to me.”

Another simply wrote: “It’s so easy to do vegan tacos, how is this even a problem?”

Others, however, sympathised with the bride, with one deeming it “ridiculous” to expect “self imposed dietary restrictions” to be met.

“I get where the bride is coming from here,” she wrote.

“Poor execution maybe but it’s a little ridiculous to basically demand as a wedding guest that your self-imposed dietary restrictions be met.

“Either bring your own food or don’t go.

“My sister is vegan and I anticipate some issues if we don’t end up going with a restaurant for our reception who will make her a special meal.

“I’m not going to go out of my way to find something that’ll work for her because she’s one guest out of 40ish.”

Another suggested the couple eat before the reception.

“Eat before you go to the wedding. That’s what most vegans and vegetarians (that I know) do before events,” they wrote.

While the post sparked debate, the majority of user agreed the bride and groom should at least alert their friends to the issue.

“If they can’t eat from the menu choices, at least let them know in advance,” said one.
