A brave Labrador diced with death trying to protect its owner from the biggest cat in North America.
The black dog, Timber, was filmed on an Ipad standing within inches of the mountain lion which kept baring its teeth in Sayward, British Columbia, barking.
Its owner, who works in forestry, yells at the cat trying to get rid of it before whacking the terrifying animal on the head with a stick.

The black Labrador, Timber, confronted the mountain lion in Sayward, British Columbia

The mountain lion came forward baring its teeth and hissing while man's best friend barked at the animal
Shocking footage shows the Labrador, feet rooted to the spot, standing on sticks just above the cat growling straight into its face.
Its owner bellows at the lion and calls his canine back as the ferocious big cat hisses and bares its teeth.
For a terrifying moment as the hound and its owner edge backwards, the big cat comes forward and continues hissing aggressively.
The owner continues to howl at the cat as the Labrador growls.
The man said he had to hurl a log at the fierce animal to make it go away.

The man eventually managed to scare off the mountain lion by hitting it on the head with a stick and hurling a log at it
'After I stopped the video, I picked up a stick and hit it on the head,' he said.
'The stick broke.
'I picked up a small log and tossed it at the cat, at which point it retreated.
'Being a wildlife enthusiast, the video was stopped only because I realised the cat was not leaving on its own and needed further encouragement.'
He was at work when the encounter happened.
'I used to keep my dog with me to alert me if predators were around.
'I manage tree plantations for major licensees along the west coast of British Columbia. Our company specialises in remote access areas.
'I use a tablet to collect data on forest regeneration. I had my iPad out as the cat approached and started recording instinctually.'
