"Many Photos" - United legend Roy Keane shoved out of way for long throw by Wales star Will Vaulks as Forest lose to at Rotherham

ROY KEANE found himself on the wrong end of the kind of intimidating tactics he revelled in as a player when he attempted a bit of gamesmanship on the touchline.

Keane attempted to block the path of Rotherham star Will Vaulks as he prepared to launched a long throw into the Nottingham Forest penalty area.

The Forest coach wondered into the path the Wales midfielder wanted to take in an attempt to disrupt him finding his target.

But Vaulks, 25, was having none of it – and took matters into his own hands by shoving Keane out his way.

In fairness to the Manchester United legend, Keane took his punishment well – no doubt aware he was trying it on himself in the first place.

But on the pitch it was a disappointing day for the former midfield enforcer as he watched his team slip to a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

Forest would have been desperate to collect all three points as they look to force their way into the play-off picture in the Championship.

But the loss means O’Neill and Keane are playing catch-up in their bid to keep alive the promotion hopes with time running out to make up the ground.

Forest are now five points adrift of Bristol City in sixth, and the West Country side have a game in hand.

City and Aston Villa are the only realistic targets to catch in the play-off spots with only six games of the season remaining.

Villa are fifth on 63 points, six points clear of Forest, but are one of the form teams of the division.

And Forest will also have to overhaul Derby and Middlesbrough if they are to somehow secure a top six finish.
