"Many Photos" - Michael Jackson’s family hits back at Leaving Neverland sex abuse claims by releasing their own YouTube documentary

MICHAEL Jackson’s family has hit back at sex abuse claims in the Leaving Neverland documentary, slamming one of the star’s accusers as “opportunist” in a new YouTube video.

The singer’s niece, Brandi Jackson, who was in a relationship with Wade Robson for seven years, urged him to “stop” making allegations.

Neverland Firsthand: Investigating the Michael Jackson Documentary, is a 30-minute documentary recently released on YouTube.

Produced by Liam McEwan, it features interviews with Brandi, Jackson’s nephew Taj and the star’s longtime technical director Brad Sundberg.

Liam said it “further explores allegations made in HBO’s Leaving Neverland, that the King of Pop sexually abused two young boys.

“Through interviews with those closest to the situation, as well as members of Jackson’s family, the film sheds light on information that was excluded from HBO’s broadcast.”

His short film refutes allegations made by Robson and former child actor James Safechuck in British filmmaker Dan Reed’s HBO documentary, which screened earlier this year, that they were sexually abused as kids by Jackson.

Liam asked Taj Jackson why his famous uncle – who died in 2009 – had been “sued so many times” during his short life.

Taj replied: “When you have a certain niceness, people take advantage of it.”

“GOOD FRIENDS”

Liam then spoke with Brandi Jackson, who confirmed that the family has gone through a “hard time” as a result of the HBO film.

The photographer, now aged 37, dated Wade for more than seven years, after he developed a “crush” on her, when they met as kids.

Liam said: “There aren’t that many people who know someone quite as well as their ex-partner.”

Brandi replied that she and Wade were “very good friends, very close”, and that even their mums became good friends.

However, their relationship ended after Wade’s behaviour changed when he turned 17, and he allegedly “started to cheat” on her with multiple women.

Despite them being close for about a decade, Brandi was not alluded to in the Leaving Neverland film.

Quizzed on why her name wasn’t mentioned, she replied: “I’m not surprised. It completely discredits what he’s saying.

“He’s saying that he was in a relationship with my uncle, that they were in love, and that they were having a relationship.

“He’s saying that my uncle kept him from women, which is not true… my uncle put us together, it would discredit the things he is trying to claim and I find it fascinating that he is trying to erase ten years of his life.”

He needs to stop. My uncle took care of him, and did very well by him and his family. And he knows that.

Asked what she’d say to Wade “if she had the opportunity”, Brandi replied: “He needs to stop. I don’t care what his reasoning is, these lies need to stop.

“My uncle took care of him, and did very well by him and his family.

“And he knows that.”

She alleged that Wade went public with the sexual abuse claims because he thought he could profit from them.

Brandi claimed: “He has always been a bit of an opportunist; he knows how to position himself into different situations that will benefit him in a financial way.”

However, Wade’s lawyer has issued a statement, rejecting Brandi’s comments in the YouTube film.

According to Billboard, it said: “Ms Jackson was not with Wade and Michael Jackson when the sexual abuse occurred, and as such, she has nothing relevant to say about the topic.”

Liam also spoke with Michael’s technical director, Brad Sundberg.

In Wade’s lawsuit against the Jackson estate, he alleged that some of the abuse took place in a recording studio, in a “little green room”.

Brad confirmed that Michael did have a private lounge as, “whenever you work with an artist of any magnitude, they usually have a lounge, where they can go and take a meeting, grab a phone call.

“The studio was very closed, nobody came into the studio without a reason for being there. Guests were pretty infrequent.

“The perception that Michael always had kids there, kids and chimps and you know, clowns juggling bowling pins, there’s really no validity to that. We were working.”

Asked whether he believed the allegations, he replied that as a dad, with two daughters, who had worked with kids in church, “not in a million years did I ever see a child around Michael Jackson that looked like they had been distressed, hurt, abused.

“I can’t put my hand on a Bible and say, absolutely nothing happened in that room, it’s just, there weren’t many instances… I mean, I remember seeing Wade once or twice at the studio. It was not a regular occurrence at all.”

Michael Jackson repeatedly denied any wrongdoing prior to his death, and was acquitted in a child sex abuse case in California, in 2005.
