TWO sleeping homeless men were set alight in an Argentina street after a cruel thug covered them in lighter fuel.
The attacker – reportedly the son of a well-heeled businessman – poured flammable liquid on the pair as they slept under a bridge.
The horrific daylight attack in Buenos Aires comes as the country has been experiencing a sharp rise in those suffering extreme poverty.
Thousands of homeless people are living on streets outside shopping malls, in bus stations and parks in the capital.
One of the victims has reportedly been identified by police as a 38-year-old, and other homeless people in the area said he was injured more seriously than the other victim.
Despite his severe injuries he managed to walk to a local hospital and was treated for burns to his face and arms.
However the condition of the second is unknown as he has been missing since the brutal attack and has not been identified.
A local mechanic told reporters he believed “the children of a businessman” who “cannot tolerate people sleeping in the street” were behind the attack.
He added that the victims, who he said were Venezuelan, were “good people” who “did not hurt anybody”.
One of the thugs recorded the sickening attack.
In the video, the driver can be seen pulling up under the bridge in the neighbourhood of Mataderos in a Volkswagen.
NO ARRESTS
A large thug then gets out of the car and walks up to the homeless men sleeping on the pavement.
The yob appears to pour a flammable liquid on one of the men’s mattresses and then sets it on fire before jogging back to the car which drives away.
The homeless men can be seen engulfed in flames as the camera points back towards them.
The incident reportedly took place three weeks ago but has only recently been published in local media.
A police investigation has been launched and cops are working to found out if the attackers knew the homeless men.
No arrests have been reported and the investigation is ongoing.
News agency, the Associated Press, reported in March that there has been a spike in homelessness in Argentina’s capital.
The rise has been attributed to the country’s economic crisis, soaring inflation and a spike in utility bills – fuelled by austerity measures – which have left more people unable to afford a home.

The number of people in extreme poverty in Argentina’s capital, which is the country’s wealthiest area, has doubled in the past three years to 6.5 per cent, or about 198,000 people, according to official figures.
Local civic groups estimate there were about 8,000 homeless people in Buenos Aires by the end of last year.
Shelters in Buenos Aires are operating at full capacity.
But, as most are divided by gender, families often prefer staying on the streets to splitting up.
