"Many Photos" - Woman suspected of using VX nerve agent to kill Kim Jong-un's brother pleads guilty to lesser charge

A Vietnamese woman who wore a t-shirt with 'LOL' emblazoned on the front as she smeared deadly nerve agent on the face of Kim Jong-un's brother at Kuala Lumpur airport three years ago has escaped the death penalty.

Doan Thi Huong is due to walk free from jail in May after Malaysia agreed to drop the murder charge against her over the death of Kim Jong-nam and allowed her to plead guilty to the lesser charge of causing injury with a dangerous weapon.

The judge told Huong she was 'very, very lucky' as he handed down a sentence of three years and four months in jail, starting from the date she was arrested in 2017.

It comes after Malaysia agreed to drop all charges against Huong's co-accused, Indonesian woman Siti Aisyah, who walked free from court earlier this month.

The women had told police they were duped into killing Kim by North Korean agents who convinced them they were taking part in a prank TV show.

Huong had been facing a murder charge, which carried the death penalty if she was convicted.

Huong nodded as a translator read the new charge to her: voluntarily causing injury with a dangerous weapon, VX nerve agent.

High Court judge Azmi Ariffin sentenced Huong to three years and four months from the day she was arrested on February 15 2017.

Huong's lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik said his client is expected to be freed by the first week of May, after a one-third reduction in her sentence for good behaviour.

'I am happy,' Huong told reporters as she left the courtroom, adding she thought it was a fair outcome.

While handing out a jail term short of the maximum 10 years the new charge carried, the judge told Huong she was 'very, very lucky' and he wished her 'all the best'.

Vietnamese officials in the courtroom cheered when the decision was announced.

The original charge had alleged the two women colluded with four North Koreans to murder Mr Kim with VX nerve agent they smeared on his face as he was passing through the airport on February 13 2017.

The women had said they thought they were taking part in a harmless prank for a TV show.

The four North Koreans fled Malaysia on the same day Mr Kim was killed.

The High Court judge last August had found there was enough evidence to infer that Aisyah, Huong and the four North Koreans engaged in a 'well-planned conspiracy' to kill Mr Kim and had called on the two women to present their defence.

Lawyers for the women have said that they were pawns in a political assassination with clear links to the North Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and that the prosecution failed to show the women had any intention to kill.

Intent to kill is crucial to a murder charge under Malaysian law.

Huong's lawyer told the court Monday that her guilty plea to the lesser charge showed she 'has taken responsibility' for her actions.

In asking for a lenient sentence, he also told the court that her move saved judicial time.

"Many Photos" - John Terry trolls Chelsea hero Ruben Loftus-Cheek… but fans are just baffled by his floating TV

JOHN TERRY trolled Ruben Loftus-Cheek for his heading technique — but fans were more baffled by his floating TV.

The former Chelsea captain, 38, witnessed his former side come from 1-0 down at Cardiff to win 2-1 thanks to the England midfielder’s back-post header.

And after scoring a dramatic winner thanks to an excellent header, the 23-year-old was trolled for his technique by former ball-winning defender Terry.

He said on Instagram: “Yes @rubey_lcheek Why you closing your eyes though.”

Terry, who is currently assistant manager at Aston Villa under Dean Smith, has been working on his coaching qualifications at the Midlands club.

But Reddit users were baffled by the state of Terry’s TV, with the large TV appearing to FLOAT on his wall.

LIKE STARRING IN GOGGLEBOX

Actually the TV is installed behind a wall of mirrors, with a fireplace underneath.

One user asked: “Off topic, but how is his tv there? Is it hanging on wires?”

Another replied: “It’s screwed into the wall. The units around it are mirrored.

“Look at the white coving at the top of the pic. I think jt is sitting a little off to the right so we can’t see his reflection.”

A third joked: “Mirrored TV unit, eh. Can watch yourself watching TV, like you’re starring in Gogglebox.”

"Many Photos" - British jihadi moans he 'didn't know' how bad life with ISIS would be

A British ISIS fighter dubbed 'Hungry Hamza' after he whinged about missing fast food now claims he didn't realise how bad ISIS was.

Hamza Parvez left his comfortable home in west London five years ago and became one of the first Britons to join the terror group as it took over parts of Syria and Iraq.

But, after the extremists were crushed this year, Parvez, 26, has surrendered to Kurdish forces and is being held in a prison in Syria.

Speaking from his prison cell, he claimed he didn't realise ISIS were so bad when he went to join them.

Hamza Parvez, a British man who fought for ISIS for five years, now claims he didn't like life in the so-called caliphate after he was captured by Kurdish forces as ISIS crumbled

Parvez appeared on an ISIS recruitment video after joining the jihadis in 2014, telling British Muslims to follow his example, but was mocked online for moaning about having to give up his favourite KFC and Nando's meals.

He has lost nearly five stone while fighting for ISIS, and criticised the group over how they distributed food.

He told the BBC's Quentin Sommerville: 'I didn't know there was something waiting for me like that.

'Most foreign fighters say "We would never have come if we had know the realities of ISIS".'

He added: 'Many kids passed away from malutrition... I blame ISIS for it.'

Parvez has been stripped of his British citizenship and his only chance of getting out of Syria is to move to Pakistan, where he is still believed to have citizenship.

He married a Canadian-Pakistani woman in Syria, who is also currently in prison. They have two children together.

Mr Somerville said Parvez 'lied extensively' during their interview and the full extent of his crimes were unlikely to be uncovered.

He questioned Parvez on why he didn't just leave the group if he hated it so much.

Parvez said: 'There was many times where I thought time to pack up and leave and there's many times I did try to pack up and leave but the reality was that it wasn't as easy as it sounds.

'It's a small group of very big fish [in Isis] which make all the decisions for all the people.'

He is thought to be one of around 50 British jihadis who have been captured in Syria.

Parvez had a middle-class upbringing in west London, going to Holland Park School and getting a job as an accountant for a hotel firm before he fled to join ISIS aged 21.

He tried to create a social media following after arriving in the Middle East.

But followers back in Britain mocked Parvez for posting too much about food and his pet kitten, who he kept while fighting for the group.

He told followers he had dreamed about ordering food from KFC, Nando's and his favourite Thai restaurant.

In one post he wrote: 'Cheese and onion crisps, tropical juice on the floor with my klash [Kalashnikov rifle].'

Now, speaking in jail, Parvez admitted knowing ISIS executioner Mohammed Emwazi, known as 'Jihadi John', but claimed he didn't spend much time with him because he was scared of drone strikes.

"Many Photos" - Manuel Charr not interested in ‘irrelevant’ Dillian Whyte and claims Brit ‘is not ready for the challenge’

DILLIAN WHYTE will not challenge for the WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight world title, if champion Manuel Charr gets his way.

After Whyte, 30, snubbed a deal to fight unified champion Anthony Joshua, 29, and instead chased a WBC eliminator against Dominic Breazeale, he was left in limbo.

Breazeale, 33, was handed the opportunity to challenge for the WBC title after the rematch between champion Deontay Wilder, 33, and Tyson Fury, 30, failed to materialise.

Left without an opponent, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Luis Ortiz, Alexander Povetkin and the WBA’s secondary world champion Charr were all possible names for Whyte’s next fight.

He has made good fights and won, but he is not ready to fight against me. This athlete should not be given a platform for a world championship.

Manuel Charr on Dillian Whyte

However, speaking to SunSport, German based Lebanese Charr revealed he is not interested in Whyte, blasting the Brit as ‘irrelevant’ – and instead called out AJ and Fury.

Charr said: “I am not interested in a fight against Dillian Whyte. He is not a sportsman and not a challenge for me. He is an irrelevant man.

“He has made good fights and won, but he is not ready to fight against me. This athlete should not be given a platform for a world championship.

“I really want to fight in England. My favourite opponents are the super sportsman Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. These two athletes would be a big challenge for me personally.

“Talent against experience. I have the ring experience. I just want to fight the best and AJ and Fury are the best fighters from UK.”

‘I SURVIVED AN ASSASSINATION’

The 34-year-old won the WBA understudy belt in November 2017 after beating Alexander Ustinov in Germany – however, he is yet to make a defence.

Charr faced losing his title after a failed drug test in September last year, but instead escaped with a six month suspension.

The 6ft 4ins heavyweight has had to overcome more adversity in his career, having surviving an ‘assassination’ attempt in 2015 after being confronted by an internet troll.

He likens his story to Fury, who overcame drug abuse and mental health problems to challenge for Wilder’s WBC world title in December last year.

I had to overcome many obstacles during my boxing career. In 2015, I survived an assassination after a man shot me in the stomach.

Manuel Charr

Charr added: “My story is like the story of Tyson Fury: Never give up and fight for the good again and again. You have to be a role model.

“I had to overcome many obstacles during my boxing career. In 2015, I survived an assassination after a man shot me in the stomach.

“Although I had severe internal injuries, I made my comeback victorious nine months later.

“Only a year after the assassination, I fought for the WBA international title against Sefer Seferi, the former opponent of Tyson Fury, who was unbeaten at the time. I won the title.

“Because of years of pain in the hips, two artificial hips were implanted in April 2017. The surgeon implanted both artificial hips during a single session.

“Anyone who survives such evil destinies can and wants to carry the world on his hands.”

"Many Photos" - Family of millionaire couple killed in plane crash sue makers for £3million

Lewis and Sally Tonkinson (pictured) died in a crash when their 'kit-built' Alpi Pioneer plane hit tress and then plummeted to the ground

The family of a millionaire couple who were killed when their light aircraft crashed are suing the people who made the plane for £3million in compensation.

Marketing tycoon Lewis and wife Sally Tonkinson were killed when their £100,000 'kit-built' Alpi Pioneer plane struck trees and hit the ground at Popham Airfield, Hampshire, in January 2015.

Mr Tonkinson, who was at the controls of the aircraft, had diverted to Popham due to tricky flying weather, but his plane's engine 'seized and then stalled' as he came in to land.

The 50-year-old was flying his wife and son George home from the Isle of Wight so that his child could attend a birthday party when tragedy struck.

His daughter Hayley Tonkinson, 30, is spearheading a court fight for damages by surviving family members.

The family's barrister, Lionel Stride, told London's High Court that super-rich Mr Tonkinson had held a flying licence for seven years before his death in the crash.

The couple's son George, then aged six, was on board the doomed plane and was badly injured but survived the impact - after his dad warned him to 'brace' as the plane came down.

Hayley, from Birmingham, is Sally's daughter from a previous marriage, and the step-daughter of Lewis, who were both from Alcester, Warwickshire.

She is leading five relatives battling individuals and companies linked to the manufacture, design and safety assessment of the plane.

Before her parents' deaths Hayley was holding down a high-powered job with Barclays Bank and had stellar career prospects, court documents disclosed.

She tried to carry on but said the impact of the accident on the family made it impossible to continue her high-pressure work and she resigned.

Among those being sued are Frank Cavaciuti, of Abergavenny, Gwent, who sold the aircraft to Mr Tonkinson for £104,000 in 2014, lawyers claim.

Hayley Tonkinson (pictured, right, with her mother Sally, left) is leading a group of relatives suing individuals and companies over the deadly crash

Hayley Tonkinson (pictured, right, with her mother Sally, left) is leading a group of relatives suing individuals and companies over the deadly crash

The plane was 'the first of its kind' to be sold and flight tested in the UK but lawyers say it was defective due to faulty wiring.

But Mr Cavaciuti, 74, denies responsibility and says the plane should never have taken off due to poor weather. He says that pilot error was to blame for the tragedy.

Also in the firing line are Italian aircraft firm Alpi Aviation SRL - said to have been responsible for the original 'design and manufacture of the aircraft'. They also deny liability.

Mr Cavaciuti, a veteran aviator and light aircraft enthusiast, helped build the plane at Alpi Aviation under the company's supervision, he says in his defence.

But he insists he did not install the wiring or commission the engine which 'seized'. He also says the aircraft was inspected on 'multiple occasions'.

The seven-figure claim is also being brought against the engine suppliers, those responsible for flight testing, and the Civil Aviation Authority. In total there are 13 defendants to the claim.

Frank Cavaciuti (pictured) says that the plane never should have taken off on the day of the fatal crash due to weather conditions

In a legal twist Hayley is also bringing an alternative claim against her step-father's estate and his insurers.

The 'highly complex multi-party action' reached London's High Court this week in a pre-trial face-off between lawyers debating issues including the spiraling costs of the litigation. One of the key questions in the case is the cause of the crash.

Hayley's legal team says her step-father may have unwittingly moved the throttle to a dangerous setting after an orange warning light flashed due to a 'technical malfunction'.

'The engine failed in all likelihood because Mr Tonkinson moved the throttle to a setting where a damaging level of pressure was reached,' said Mr Stride.

But the barrister also claimed the plane was defective because faulty wiring triggered the orange warning light, and because its engine was 'underpowered in a critical phase of flight'.

Negligence is denied by all defendants and the full trial is fixed to start next year.
