"Many Photos" - Marseille stabbing attack: 4 injured before police shoot assailant

French police shot and wounded a man in Marseille on Tuesday after he attacked four people in the southern port city, a police source said.

The unidentified man had launched attacks on passersby in the centre of France's second largest city.

He was shot by police after trying to take a gun out to fire on officers, the source said.

The attacker is in a critical condition. 

The motive of the attack was not immediately clear.
