CHELSEA bigwigs have held talks over Maurizio Sarri’s future following last night’s FA Cup exit.

The holders were embarrassed in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Despite having most of the possession, Chelsea managed just two shots on target – both coming in the 11^th minute.

And with Sarri looking completely devoid of ideas as he brought on right-back Davide Zappacosta as his final sub, home supporters made their feelings clearly known with a chorus of anti-Sarriball songs and jeers.

Chelsea have now lost five of their last ten matches – as many as they had lost in the previous 41 games.

And Sky Sports claims chiefs have held talks over Sarri’s position as head coach as a result.

Indeed, it now appears to be a question of “when” and not “if” the Italian gets the chop.

Chelsea have slipped into sixth in the Premier League table, leaving their chances of qualifying for the Champions League hanging by a thread.

While they face more humiliation when they play Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, having being crushed at the Emirates 6-0 over a week ago.

Sarri is set to take charge for Thursday night’s Europa League last-32 second-leg clash against Malmo after winning 2-1 in Sweden, but the writing may already be on the wall for the former Napoli manager and his unique brand of football.
