New photo Frank Bruno leads fans and pundits furious over Tyson Fury draw against Deontay Wilder

THE BOXING world was left stunned and disgusted after Tyson Fury’s efforts against Deontay Wilder was not enough to secure a win.

Fury boxed tremendously throughout the fight but had to recover from two knockdowns including a remarkable recovery in the final round.

Despite Wilder’s late showing Fury outboxed the WBC heavyweight world champion for much of the fight switching from orthodox to southpaw while taunting his opponent.

The fight was declared a draw after the split decision was announced and immediately boxing pundits and fans took to Twitter to question the result.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Frank Bruno reacted on Twitter by calling the decision a ‘daylight robbery’.

He Tweeted: “Daylight robbery.”

Fury largely controlled the first half of the bout as the Brit switched from orthodox to southpaw effectively while landing with the straight one-two combination.

Wilder struggled to establish his range and land with his signature right hand as Fury used elusive footwork to control the distance.

Fury showboated from the first round onwards as he looked comfortable in his quest to claim Wilder’s WBC title.

In round nine Wilder finally made a breakthrough as he landed with two swiping hooks as Fury hit the deck.

The Gypsy King recovered well as Wilder failed to capitalise on the knockdown.

Fury continued to outbox Wilder, despite the threat of the American’s dangerous one punch power that had seen him KO 39 of his 40 opponents before entering this fight.

Going into the twelfth and final round Fury looked to have secured a commanding lead but the 30-year-old had showed heroics as he was once again dropped by a Wilder combination.

However, the Brit rose from the canvas to recover and see the final bell in what was an incredible heavyweight title fight.

Despite Fury’s excellent performance the Brit saw his efforts earn him a draw after a split decision was announced.

Wilder’s round nine and twelve knockdown’s meant he did enough to hold onto his title – despite Fury seemingly controlling the action throughout.

After the fight Wilder claimed his two knockdowns of Fury was enough to see him earn a victory – much to the disagreement of those watching on.

Similarly Fury said he thought he should have won the fight while he credited Wilder as the second best heavyweight, behind himself.

After the bout Fury called out countrymen Anthony Joshua and called the current WBA, IBF and WBO world champion a ‘chicken’.

Former welterweight world champion Paulie Malignaggi ranted on Showtime Sports as he claimed judge Alejandro Rochin, who gave Wilder the opening four rounds, should never work in boxing again.

Malignaggi said: “I don’t really care about any of these replays.

“They matter nothing. This decision is a joke. Alejandro Rochin better never work another day in his life in boxing.

“I don’t know what else to tell you. We’re looking at highlights of a fight that we should be breaking down and why the result is the way it is, but I can’t tell you why the result is the way it is.

“We’re looking at certain highlights and they I have to explain why the result went the way it shouldn’t have.

“I don’t know what to tell you anymore, I can’t even do my own job.”
