THE Ryder Cup is here and fans in France are excited to see the best of Europe and the USA go at it… with the slight exception of Patrick Reed.
The US golfer was booed by the locals as he came out to practice at Le Golf National and responded by putting his finger to his mouth.
Why is Patrick Reed being booed at the Ryder Cup?
Patrick Reed has built up a reputation as golf’s pantomime villain throughout his career.
He has been dogged by accusations of cheating, theft and homophobia.
In his youth, he was accused of stealing around £300 and a luxury Scotty Cameron putter.
And a former coach claimed he tried to gain an advantage by playing the wrong ball in a tournament.
Reed denies both accusations.

But he was caught red handed and forced to apologise in Shanghai for making homophobic remarks.
Reed was heard shouting following a missed put from an opponent: “Nice f***ing three-putt, you f***ing f****t.”
And he also infuriated golf fans by claiming in 2014 he belonged in the world’s top five despite not having played in a major at the time.
The American was also chastised by his own sister for supposedly launching a smear campaign against her.
She said on Facebook that he was “continuing to play the victim”, and said that the money he was earning was “based off lies”.
But former Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger reckons Reed revels in being disliked and never more so than on enemy territory.
He said: “He dubbed himself Captain America. He embraces that villain.
“It doesn’t matter what anybody thinks. It’s a game where you’re isolated.”
How many majors has Patrick Reed won?
Patrick Reed has won one major – the 2018 Masters.
In an unpopular result, he fended off competition from Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth to win at Augusta, where he was once expelled from university.
