New photo Driver avoids serious injury after destroying £270,000 Lamborghini in motorway crash – as angry motorists ‘rev engines’ and ‘shout’ at emergency services

A SUPERCAR driver has had a lucky escape after crashing their Lamborghini on the motorway.

The £270,000 motor came off the M62 towards Manchester on Sunday, causing some frustrating delays for Christmas travellers.

Incredibly, despite the front of the luxury car being completely destroyed, the driver reportedly walked away with just minor injuries.

The car is thought to have careered off the wet road and into the grassy verge, crumpling the bonnet and windscreen.

Mersey Police posted pictures of the shocking single-vehicle collision to Twitter, and slammed other motorists for their response to the incident.

Despite just one lane being closed eastbound towards Manchester, the accident sparked fury for some drivers rushing around just two days before Christmas.

The Merseyside Road Policing Unit said: “Junction 5 – 6 has a lane 1 closure due to a minor injury RTC.

“Please give us some space as you drive past as revving your engine and shouting at us won’t speed up the reopening process.”

The police later tweeted to say the lane had been reopened, but revealed some impatient drivers had ignored the closed lane signs on overhead gantries.

The tweet said: “All lanes on the M62 are now open and traffic back to normal.

“Thanks to the majority of people who adhered to the red X’s, and to those who didn’t, expect your letter in the post in the new year.”

Ignoring red ‘X’ signs on smart motorways is a serious offence, with drivers eligible for a fine up to £5,000.

Earlier this month, we revealed pictures of a £750,000 McLaren destroyed after a devastating head-on collision in Essex.
